What a year it’s been! This year brought about so many new opportunities and lots of change that I didn’t know was coming. With each year that passes by I somehow always fall into the trap of feeling like I could have done more creatively and not spent so much time planning and thinking about doing things.
This year really was a mixture of both ends of the extremes. I feel like I’m at a place in my career where I know that I have so much potential and the ability to sustain myself entirely on my own but the fear of failure and the unknown always hold me back from going too far.
But one thing that happened this year was me leaving my stable job at Disney to pursue freelancing and investing time into my own projects and businesses. That was something completely unexpected that was a true test of might and resilience on my part and I weathered it like a champ.
All in all, 2024 was a solid year for growth and discovery. These are some of the highlights!
I began the year rather overly optimistic and decided to start another Daily 365 project which I promptly abandoned halfway through March.
I attended @thenammshow for the second time! Tried so much new gear and met lots of cool people. It’s my new favorite convention I look forward to every year.
I got to design a lot of cool stuff for the Shōgun series.
I won an employee raffle and was invited to take a private tour of Walt Disney’s old office on the Burbank studio lot.
I purchased my 13th guitar LOL
Got to do a lot of fun design work for Season 3 of Welcome to Wrexham.

Like I mentioned above, I left my job at Disney to pursue the freelance life.
I released an expanded 7-weight font family of an old font I originally made in 2020 called Quartez.
I started a new typography video series called Everyday Type.
I took a family trip to San Diego and visited a bunch of places including The Whaley House and SeaWorld. I still need to edit all the footage I recorded
I spent the past few months working on creating my upcoming design course CustomType Academy.
