Sorry for the dramatic looking title above. It just seemed too perfect haha. Anyway, as most of you know, last night was the first Blood Moon eclipse in a series of four called the “Lunar Tetrad”. The next one will happen later this year on October 8 with the next two happening next year on April 4 and September 28. The term “Blood Moon” originally has a religious meaning. Which I’ll be honest and say I know nothing about. I do know it has something to do with the “End of Days” bullshit you hear all the religious nuts talking about every couple of months. But its cool. I ain’t mad at them.

So yeah, back to last night. A total lunar eclipse happened and I was super excited about it. I was finally able to properly collimate my telescope and got it set up just in time for the eclipse to happen. I also have a T-Ring mount for my camera which allows me to mount my Canon Rebel EOS T2i on it and basically use my telescope as a giant telephoto lens. I spent some time with my family and a buddy of mine out in our backyard and I started snapping away. The only downside was that some of the photos are kinda blurry because I’m still new to the whole astrophotography game. Being that the moon is 238,900 miles away from the Earth, it’s kind of difficult to proper collimate the lens and focus it. But I did my best. Luckily I was shooting in RAW format so I was able to adjust some of the blurriness and colors.

Anyway. here are some of my favorite shots from last night.
